UNICEF has now issued a LRPS-2025-9201159 in order to select a supplier for the provision of TECHNICAL STUDIES MISSION FOR THE REHABILITATION AND RECONSTRUCTION OF THE WATER NETWORKS OF CENTRAL NYUNZU, CENTER OF MOBA AND KALEMIE IN THE PROVINCE OF TANGANYIKA. Armed conflicts and clashes intercommunity protests in Moba and Nyunzu have caused significant population displacements. This situation has aggravated poverty and vulnerability, thus generating basic humanitarian needs, including access to drinking water in sufficient quantity and quality. Furthermore, the Tanganyika province is facing a serious cholera epidemic which affects 9 of the 11 health zones. This situation has been worsened by recurring floods which have deteriorated an already fragile health environment and affected all basic social services. Between January 1 and on May 4, 2025, health authorities reported 2,420 cases of cholera, including 41 deaths, a figure significantly higher than the same period in 2024 (322 cases, 4 deaths) and in 2023 (1,355 cases, 17 deaths). Insufficient water, hygiene and sanitation (WASH) services are one of the factors major factors explaining this resurgence.
